Hello my friend,
Today when I look at this beautiful yet troubled world I am reminded of the words of Satish Kumar,"All you can see on the outside is part of what 'we' share in our collective self."
It is all part of the collective heart and mind. 'we' continue to create all this world from somewhere deep inside.
Oui Mon Ami, I believe as did John Lennon and many others of a previous generation;
Music is a vehicle to communicate with the collective psyche and dream of the world as it becomes new each and every moment and older every week.
Mein Freunde as Carl Gustav Jung would tell you, even as much as we desire to see broad levels of change now environmentally and socially, change is a negociation with the collective psyche.
Mi Amigo as Siddartha Gotama would smile and say,"Time will bring change as all is change.
All is in motion. All is part of transition."
But yes Přitele it took Copernicus's observation that we revolve around the sun hundred's of years to be accepted, and Satyagraha as Ghandi said is un-relenting, truth is un-stoppable.
As Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us; as much as we can love this crazy yet beautiful world it is with grace some day we all must die to say goodbye to this majestic blue drop.
Oui mon ami, the Native Indians urged us to see, the earth belongs to nobody.
It is a gift to be left for future generations of smiling children to walk upon and gaze with wonder into the night sky, to breathe life into the old songs and remember also their essential timelessness.
It is with all these realisations and also a profound joy that I bring to you my '9 Pilgrims'.
In this collection of songs I seek to celebrate human diversity and the nature that gives us life.
Each Pilgrim is in fact the part of us that seeks a broader identity and perspective as symbolised by this lovely giraffe.
The Giraffe from above that transcends the limitations of our vision, language and cultural condtioning. It is 9 That becomes 1 broader identity.
9 cross pollinations of influences from across the earth. Its an organic recipe of meta languages, because all languages are a path towards revealing understanding.
Many of the songs are homages to people who have opened my eyes to our broader identidad; Martin Luther king, Te Whiti, John Lennon, Rumi, Carl Jung.
So my friend remember that;
In the ocean there are drops, but in the drop the ocean is free,
with this in mind my feet are lighter.
with love, hope and duende-
